I'm finishing up the install of an SYE into my 98.

It came with 4 snap rings, 2 large and 2 small. I have the case back together and while cleaning up last night found a left over large snap ring. I installed one at the gear end to hold the two gears on that go into the planetary and the two small ones went by the speedo gear. Where the hell does the other one go?!

 

Check out '231 AA HD SYE Install' in the XJ technical write-ups section. He mentions about having a leftover lock ring due to the bearing already mounted in the tailshaft housing. Sorry I don't know how to post links.
