Default Quick question on RR recovery hooks

Got some hooks/brackets, no hardware. Looking online it appears all I need are a couple nuts and bolts, everything else reuses the factory bumper bolts. Is this correct? I'm about to raid the bolt bin at work, hopefully get them installed this weekend.
Here's the instructions I found online:

Do yourself a favor don't use the hooks use the D-Ring adapters instead much safer and a must have for using straps. Considering chains are barred from most 4x4 parks its just planning ahead and safer for sure.

I've already got them on. You can't use straps with hooks? Why not?
And I do plan on getting an entire new bumper someday, with hitch mount and ring shakles. But that's probably a while off (-$) and I wanted to have something in the meantime.

The hooks are mounted in the down position, the strap always falls off unless you have someone hold it or have these on there:

But if you really wheel it, they'll probably just get mangled.

That's what I've got, I even linked them in the first post. Yes, they may get mangled since they do hang lower than I'd like. But like I said, they're temporary, I got them for cheap and figured the "something is better than nothing" approach would work till I can score what I really want.
So...is there any reason that I can't use these with straps?

I never had issues with stock tow hooks. Just need to work smarter, and not harder.
