Default Questions about perf. distributors

I've been looking at some distributors and saw a really nice one
made by MSD.. (pricey though)

Was wondering about opinions on installing a high performance distributor
on an XJ (bad/good)

Was also looking at the spark plug wires which has less than 50 ohms resistance
and was thinking of adding an MSD ignition.

What are the good and bad of the low ohm spark plug wires ?
Has anyone used them before ?

Does adding an MSD ignition really make a difference ?
Which would you recommend ?

Thankyou for your time.

All a waste of money as far as distributors.

High quality cap, rotor, and wires. I like Taylor wires and Napa Premium cap and rotor wit brass terminals.

Really ?
I thought they were high quality because of their price.

What about the MSD ignition ?

Don't waste your time and money on either.

good advice ^

I like the NAPA parts! I use BWD ignition components from Oreilly's due to the proximity to my house (and the fact that I used to work there during college). I replace them all regularly regardless. Add to that some champion or NGK copper plugs.. and your all set!

Your XJ is no where near a machine that requires high performance ignition components... you would see 0 benefit except for the pretty red color

Yes! And ASAP you will notice a difference. People will tell that buying ignition upgrades or other upgrades are wastes of money. But what is never said is that these "upgrades" need to work in conjunction with other upgrades. So yes buy the ignition upgrades then add more upgrades later. And when you have your other upgrades put your ignition system back to stock then tell me it doesn't work. I recently thought my coil was going bad so I bought a new one. Got it from autozone the ACCELL brand was $10 more than the oem replacement so why not? Right? To make a long story short I thought the ACCELL coil was giving out so I put my OEM one back in and guess what! Totally felt a power loss. And just so you know I'm running a 4.6 stroker with stock cam and intake only has cone filter exhaust and ford injectors.
