Default Questions on 231/231 duel case

I'm thinking about building a duel case set up for my jeep and i have a few questions on drive lines and cross-members.

With my Rustys long arms and cross member how much customizing will i have to do to it ?

Will I have to push my rear axle back to get a good drive line angle?

Any other Things I should be worried about ?

The 231/231 is ALOT of work.

YOu will have to cut your floorboards. Depending on how flat you want to get the bottom of your rig.. depends on How much. MIne is flat.. and I had to build a custom x-member, as well as re-route my exhaust. Also since I flat skided the bottom of my rig it meant I had to do cutom shifters, and I ended up doing cable shifters. Also dirve shafts will need to be addressed. I didnt worry about hooking up the speedo, but will need to be addressed.

Did you have to push your axle back at all? And do you have pics? Would greatly appreciate it

No you dont have to move the axle's. Think about lifted CJ/YJ/TJ's where the rear DS is only like 8" long or something like that. I assume your going to run a SYE, right...?

Have you ever looked into a 231 d300 doubler It is a little eaier to package, also for the cost have you considered just using a 4:1 tera low for the simplicity?

NO you dont have to move your axle back any.. even though I did

I also have another rig I am building with a 231/300 doubler. the 300 doubler one was more expensive to build. Especially since I am adding 4 to 1 and 32 spline outputs front and rear

As for just doing a 4to1. The reason why I didnt was the price. 1200 was the price I found. Also that way only offers you 2 t-case speeds. where as my 231/231 double offers 3. the 231/d300 offers 4 speeds PLus the ability to do front digs

Here is a pic of the 231/231

Here is a pic of the 231/300 setup

here is what it will look like inside the rig

Basically It is just some push/pull cables with clevis ends on one end.. on the other end I took the stock t-case shifter linkage.. cut off the end.. and welded it onto a piece of 1/4 inch all thred coupler.

It would be really hard for me to get any pics on how it is mounted on the cases as I am flat skided and would have to drop skid plate to get pics of that.

I know the basic set up but what are your shifting options now?

231 H-L
300 F: H-N-L
300 R: H-N-L

I think its like that. I almost got a d300 but i opened it up and looked kinda like a babys dirty diaper in there so i said no. How much was the 231/300 doubler to do (not with the bling bling 4:1 and 32 spline stuff), if you dont mind me asking?

You basically hit the nail on the head. with the shift patterns. Only reason why I did the 4-1 in the 300 was to have that ratio available. I found wheeling my 231/231 doubler that the 2.72 wasnt enough.. and 7.4 was too much.. so added the 4-1 in the 300. also gives me a way deeper ratio of 10.4 to 1.

I also wouldnt reccommend doing front diggs without the 32 spline output especially if you do it in double low and first gear. Things might go BOOM. and that would be expensive.

I got my doubler from D&D machining.. and it was 529 shipped to my door. The shifter setup if you make it yourself is like 200 bucks for parts. tand that is to build a triple shifter.

There is a good post over on Pirate written about this doubler setup. I truly suggest planning on having rig down for an extended period of time while you do this. Easy swap.. hard to make it look clean.

If you look on my webshots page at the New toy post and go to page 10ish you will see everything
