Default Question about shocks

sorry if this is supposed to be in the lift section, but my qestion is what shocks are the best to get? I know that is sort of open ended and opinionated, but i believe one of my front shocks is going and i plan on doing a lift in the near futrue, probably 4 in. I have been looking at the skyjacker nitro shocks, but was curious to find other opinions on what to get as i'm still relatively new to the jeep/lift scene. I have also looked at the bilstein shocks and monotbue vs. twin-tube. If there is a sticky by all means direct me to it and i'll read through it. Thanks

Pretty much all the main lift companies get their shocks from china. the rough country, procomp, skyjacker, rusties... they are all the same for the most part and will all give you a stiff bearable ride. I got the Rough country nitro 9000 shocks or something like that and was told they would be fine for a cherokee because XJs are so light weight. but really they are very stiff. they have gotten better over the past year that i have owned them but they are still killer on road going over pot holes and such.

I would recommend Bilstein, although i have never owned them i have yet to hear a bad review about them...EVER! I plan on upgrading to long arms in the future and when i do i will be going with the Bilstien 5150s up front and the 5125 in the rear. with 255 valving.

If $300 for shocks is in your budget than I would go ahead and get Bilsteins.

I'll certainly look in to those shocks. But for now should i just pick up some stock shocks from the jy or autozone to replace any possible bad shocks? Don't plan on doing my lift until the fall.

I would get the cheapest SET of stock shocks I could find to use as a temporary set. Now when you get the lift get GOOD shocks. Forget brand, for a second. Any shock that sells for less than $60 each or MOST in a lift kit is crappy. Exception being OME Stuff.
