Default Power steering system

So I just recently replaced my gear box, power steering pump, and power steering pulley. When I tried to drive around I have no assist from the power steering system. I have bled the system with engine off and pitman arm disconnected and tires on the ground. When I went to start it and see if I had PS again, I had nothing. No noises, no squeals, no grinding or binding at all. I'm stumped..... either there is more air in the system or.... ?

Any input would be appreciated!

What fluid are you using? Replaced with OEM parts?

You bought a reman pump didn't you..... when you buy reman pumps its like 3 tries to get one that works. When you open up the reservoir do you see any movement in fluid, it makes a little pressure even when at an idle point. If you barely see any movement even when you move the steering back and forth then time to pull it and take it back and get another one.

Well the weird thing is that it was working at one point.... when when I put everything back on, (didn't bleed system at all) I fired it up and I had power steering and it was screaming like a s.o.b. I let it run for like 5 mins working the steering wheel back and forth adding fluid when it got low. Then I shut it off and went inside for 30-45 mins to change for work. When I came back to drive it to work, I had no power steering, and it was quiet.

Try another pump.. and another, try another box I have found that 30% of reman pumps are bad. Remember the where the reman pump came from, CORES..... That pump was the broken piece of crap you took in as a core 2 months ago. Sometimes bad parts are still badd after they get fixed.

Okay that's what I'm going to do! Gonna swap out pumps tomorrow and bleed it properly and see what happens. Thanks again

I had a supercharged svt focus and went through 5 pumps in three months finally I talked to svt and they said to fill it with atf fluid and sure enough it worked. When I swapped the pump in the jeep the first one failed so I used atf with the second and it's fine.

This thread has me thinking I need to trade-in my NAPA reman'd durango steering box too. Seems just as bad as the stock one.

You are right, the more I hear the reman'd are no better than the cores they replaced...

Atf is all I ever run dexron 3 to be exact. Its a Saginaw gear box and gm always recommends dex3 for them. My 70 Chevy uses it and even my 2000 e46 says to put atf
