Painting suspensions parts & axles!
Hey all!
Just a few quick questions, been searching around and have only managed to find what paints to use or finished products that were removed from their XJ's.
I plan on painting my steering/suspension/axle parts on my XJ. Looking to do just a black color, nothing all too fancy. I won't be removing the axles, I'll remove the steering parts to paint individually. What is the best way to go about painting these pieces? Just degrease, power wash, wipe down, and paint? I guess I'm just more concerned on how to prep this stuff. Not looking for a showroom finished product, just trying to freshen up the rusted components look!
Any ideas or thoughts are appreciated!

Wire brush of some type that isn't covered in grease and oil, and run across the rust spots. You could put a wire brush in a drill, or a 4 inch angle grinder and accomplish the same task, just faster. Also if you take any spots to bear metal, use a primer of some type. Just added protection. Good luck, take some pics let us see how it turns out.

Prep is as important as what you use to finish it with. Have you thought about por 15. That stuff is so strong its ideal for suspension parts. It is a little expensive, 50 bucks a quart but goes on very thin and lasts forever.

If you have a drill, grab a whire wheel for it and go to town. Thats how I cleaned mine up, then hit them with some primer and whatever colour paint you want
