Over heating 97 xj
Anyone who knows anything about an xj knows the have an over heating problem mine had one but I finally have it fixed but I was wondering is it worth going to 2 electric fans instead of one clutch fan an the other electric?

The temp gauge and sending unit on these XJ's aren't the most accurate. You may want to check with an thermal infrared gun at the thermostat housing to find the actual temp. Having said that my '96 would get a hair above 210 when off road(never verified the actual temp). I recently redid my cooling system and now I max out at a hair below 210. So it's possible it may be running a bit warmer than it should. Might want to put some time and money in the cooling system. A good investment for a reasonable cost.

Well I have replaceced my radiator and flushed my system 3 times now and there is still gunk in the system which I think may clog up the thermostats which may make it run a hair hotter than 210. Which I carry a spare thermostat and gasket just in case I have to replace it on the trail

Slow speeds and getting warm points directly to a faulty fan clutch.

yep. Although when I first got my XJ it would also heat up when pulling a 9% grade at 50mph for a few miles. Replaced the clutch fan only and all was fine.
