I just put a 4.0 into my xj the motor is from a 96 that had been sitting for over 6 months but had been a good motor before. I replaced all the gaskets and oil pump and all that. I finally got it put in and running but the oil is not reaching the top of the motor. I know the pump is good cause I took it back and and tested it and still nothing. I don't know where to even look. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I've swapped the oil filter 2 times. And j know the oil is making it to the filter just not anywhere else. It's not reading any oil pressure at all

I hope you primed the pump, yes? they won't pump air.. also, if you remove the dist, you can spin the pump without cranking the motor. did you use a gasket between the pump and the engine? and lastly, you DID top off the crankcase with oil, right? good luck finding the issue!

If the pump is working, and you have oil, and the oil filter adaptor is new, then there should be no reason (that i can think of) that is keeping oil from flowing. I have heard people say that it can take up to like a minute for oil to get to the top, so be patient.
