Default Odd noise

I just lifted my xj 3" and I was about to do a flex test and I herd a loud bang from some where up front. I was turning left to get my wheels lined up with a wall I was going to clime . I had it in L4 and it was engaged . When I got out and looked I couldn't find anything wrong well it all looked ok as far as I could tell

Any ideas?

Mine did this, ended up being an axle shaft u joint that was worn. It broke the cap and all the needle bearings out. Crawl under and look between the steering knuckles and inspect them good.

Put a wrench/socket on the track bar bracket to frame bolts and make sure they're not loosening up on you.

what year? i have a cad front, its gone bang a couple times cause the shift fork slides off the collar under load and either breaks the fork, or busts the pads off of it.

Sorry I only get enough time to get that much out my little helper doesn't let me do much . I lifted my jeep one bolt at a time with a play time between each one took 4hrs to do one set of coils and shocks

no. i did the permanent trick, and busted the fork right in half. then after finding a much beefier looking shifter fork in the jy, (i should have taken a pic) i put it all back together like i had it before and all was well for about 6 months or so. then it started popping (read: loud bang) off of the collar when it was in 4wd and i tried to turn. pulled it apart again, used the force (my brain) and rammed a little bushing i machined in there. now its nice and tight with only a few thou of axial movement.
