Is the shift gate the same for 84-96 and 97-01??

If not, what needs to be modified? (if I use a 84-06 shift gate in a 2000 model)

 

Based on these listing indicating that the same parts are used 86-01 (231 in the case of the links), I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the only thing that matters is 231 vs 242 (most definitely does), year does not. I removed the shifter gate entirely; the TC controls the positions anyway. The aftermarket linkage (worth every penny) I have installed changes the positions such the shifter gate didn't line up. I bring this up only to say not to worry about it too much if you can't find the matching part; you really don't NEED it but it does help...
