Default 3 inch lift and 35s

hey guys im new to the thread and new to the XJ scene, but no where near new to the off-road and 4x4 scene

my girlfriend just bought an xj and shes wanting to put 35s on it...
this being her first car im not wanting to throw a 8 inch lift on her first car...
so im going to build it with LOW COG and keep it at around a 3 to 4in lift, im going to cut the fenders, probably tub the rear wheel wells a little as well as the front, add some bump stops, a rear shock hoop behind the back seat, and take off the short arms and put some long arms on

the only problem is that not knowing much about the xj market i was wanting to as what you guys suggest would be better for my long arm choice?

would it be worth making my own? ill be fabbing my own CM to mount them.
or would it be better to buy some? if so whos the best priced?

she wont be wheeling that much aside from playing out in some fields or on easy level 1 to 2 trails. i just want her to be able to show up all the kids with there 3 inch lift and 31s that talk **** about how with her 35s she wont be able to take it out on the trail with out rubbing or flexing

with that being said

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
-Andy

sounds like a good build. from what I have read there are a lot off good options. I picked the RC kit, its cheap and nice. $600.

Andy 1 stay away from the big names for a long arm kit. 35s on a 3-4.5 in lift can work but its a lot of work to get them to clear in the rear and you'll have to tub it. I say get a Clayton 4.5 long arm kit. basically comes with everything you need (longer brake lines, a JKS track bar ect) and will out preform the RC kit any day of the week.

I have had good luck with the Rock Krawler 3 link setup. Performs great offroad, and rides awesome.

mine has 35s on a 4 inch lift without tubbing the rear, you will have to take the flares off and do somthing with them. i just trimmed mine as much as i could and folded the seams into the fender wells using a hammer and the 35s will fit in the fender well.

go with the long arm kit, it wont have its full potential at 3 inches of lift but at least youll have it on there already when you lift it a bit more.

Have you changed the trans case fluid? Try backing up a couple feet after disengaging 4WD?

Mine was stuck in part time, i put it back in 4wd and rolled forward at a few MPH and JAMMED the shifter into 2wd with a decent amount of force and it got it back into 2wd. Before that I tried going in reverse and stuff but didn't work, so maybe give that a try

a 30 and a 8.25 will take a 35. never a bad idea to alloy it and truss the 30 but you can run 35s on the stock axles any bigger and you really need to look into tons
