Default Non ABS axle in ABS Jeep

Will it hurt anything putting a non ABS Axle housings in a jeep that has abs? Will it just throw the light on and give me normal brakes or do they have any sort of traction control that will activate?

Im not sure as far as the abs side of things are concerned . But non of the cherokees (xj's) had t/c. Traction control wasnt introduced until 06 on most jeeps. So you dont have to worry about that.

You will have no abs and that light on forever.

I'll be swapping in non ABS in the spring. Heard some guys had good luck with it & few had issued. I don't believe the light comes on, the ABS Sensors just don't get a reading so ABS won't ever kick on. I'll post up how mine goes in the spring.

I did it when I swapped in a D44 also. No problems at all. Pull the relays and fuses under the hood, and I believe there is one fuse in the panel under the dash. Pull the abs plug and the wires from the control box under the back seat also. No light, no issues. Functions perfectly, the system works like a normal brake system (without abs)

This works if your xj is a 92 or newer.. If your jeep is a 91 or older it's not as simple.

Actually I just modified the D44 to work with abs. Added rings to chromoly axles, adjusted sensors. It all works fine .

My build sheet says I have abs
trust me I don't (wonder where it went)

Just a side question, wasn't there a recall way way back on some of the abs devices on these jeeps?

Yes there was a recall on the old system.. I believe 91 and older. 91 is kind of a flop, but I know the 90 and older models for sure, the renix years.
