NEW TO XJ! 2 inch lift question
Hello everyone, I'm pretty new to the jeep scene. I live in Southern California and I just bought a 98 XJ 2wd (Gonna be my daily). I recently sold my ZJ 5.2 4x4 and got an XJ. I lifted my ZJ with a 2" BB and plan on doing the same to my XJ but have some questions/concerns. I want to go with 2" spacers in the front and shackles on the rear. Being somewhat new I want your opinion since this is only going to be my DD.. no wheeling.. no offroading whatsoever but I just don't like the stock height on my Jeep. Tires are 265/70r16 on moab wheels. Also, I don't really know if my springs are sagging as I read that all XJ stock springs look like they're sagging or that's how they look. I loaded the jeep once with like 700 pounds on the back and it rubbed so I had to take some stuff out (don't know if its the sag or just the big tires it has with no lift) I really appreciate your help, here's a pic of the XJ.. Thanks!

i would not do a shackle budget boost, if thats all you do you will end up with a nasty shackle angle and it will ride like crap, ask me how i know...
Alright, so I saw 2" OME Leaf springs.. will they give me that 2" on the rear? and could I just go 2" coils in front or spacer? Thanks noob here

I have OME 2 inch springs in the front and a 2 inch shackle in the rear. Driving around with the old worn out shocks it rode better than it did at stock height. Now that I got new shocks it feels like a caddy compared to before.
note: my shackle angle isn't optimal, new leafs would probably ride a bit better. I'm happy though because it was cheap and I knew the different options before I bought any parts.
From what I've heard you're going to get the best ride at 2 inches if you go with OME springs front and rear. If you go with their heavy duty leafs/coils you will sit closer to 3 inches above stock and it will work better for you if you are going to be hauling weight in the back quite often.

are you running stock leaf springs?
I highly doubt I will be hauling heavy stuff. That one day a cousin asked me if I could help him with that. For just daily driving and no hauling will the Medium load leaf springs do it? thank you

How in the heck can you get 265s under your stock XJ ??? I have 235/75/16 and it will rub in the rear when filled with camping gear. I weighed everything coming out when I cam home from camping and it
is about 350 lbs. I leave about 100 lbs in it during the week (tools/jack/parts,etc).
I do not how you even get down the street or on a dip on the freeway.
I initially put on 245s; but had to take them off after 3 days.
Getting a 2 inch OME/ARB lift this week and going to leave the 235s on.

Back on topic, new springs all around will definitely be your best option. Just keep in mind you may need more than what comes with such a small lift. For example, I needed a new adjustable track bar and extended brake lines for the front of mine at 1.5" of lift. You may not need anything extra, but plan ahead and budget for it just in case, at least for the track bar.
