Default Mine looks different than yours

I've got a 2001 with a rebuilt/salvage title. I'm trying to replace the CPS and have seen all the videos, but why is mine gray in color with a different connection on the bottom end? Was it rewired altogether? I've cussed as much as I can, now I'm so lost I'm on the internet asking strangers for help, lol.

That looks like an O2 sensor to me.

I've established that's definitely not the CPS, but still have no idea A) what that is and B) where the CPS is on this thing. There are two of the O2 sensors in the front though.

The connector for the CPS on a '00 is not like the illustration in Post #8. I believe that is for an older XJ.
Going to assume that an '01 is the same.
It is black, attached to a bracket (so it is not flopping around under there), next to a downstream O2 sensor.
Just behind the front wheels on the driver's side.
Can only be accessed from underneath IMO.

Would have been nice if the CPS connector on my '00 was up top like that. LOL.

Found this. Look at the third picture in Post #1.

That is the area mine was in if I remember correctly.

My 99 has a bracket that the cps connector is clipped to. Bolts to the last stud on the fuel rail.

That is weird cause I am pretty sure the '99 uses the same one as my '00 and you were not getting at the connector from up top.
