If you are mechanically inclined its not that bad.

A rebuild kit on ebay will probably run you 150.00 Make certain it has a front band.

Buy a manual first, this you will need. Make sure to inspect your planetaries and sprag clutch while you are in there.

Tools you need are very minimal.

It will be a job the first time just because you are unfamiliar with everything. But its not rocket science either.

Get a new torque converter too, do not try and clean the old one out, it's impossible to get all of the junk out without cutting it apart.

The cheaper ones don't offer the steels. A lot of the time the steels are not needed. However with my brothers wrangler the steels were shot. And the tranny was not slipping. The kit for 200 offered new steels also.

Its always best to tear it apart first to see exactly what you need. If you do take pictures I am sure a lot of guys on here may be interested.

If you would need other parts like planetaries or sprags I can direct you. Ebay may have them. But of course we hope you won't need them. If you do they are not much.
