there is one reason I see that makes it worth it to add a spacer
running shackle reloc boxes and shackles in the rear...
I went from 3" to 4.5" so I could get away with it in the rear
what I should have done was leave the front alone
run a 1-1.5" bastard pack, reloc boxes and shackles...
would have been flexy and AWESOME
either way BUMP STOPS are your friend
where are you rubbing? or is rubbing the reason you want to go bigger? Why do you want to go taller? Just for looks? or for tire clearance?

lucky for me (or maybe unlucky
) is this is the 3rd jeep i built. so i ran 3" coils up front, and 2" OME leafs with relocation brackets/.75" shackle. ride is so much better and flex is sexy. if my leafs ever sag, i'll do a longer shackle, and probably get more droop.

when my 31s wear out, or i get tired of them, will go to a 265/75, or 255/85 and trim more. flares havent been touched thus far, just some bumper cap trimming. bumpstopped. has a truetrac front/aussie rear, & skids, so the 31s are taking me everywhere i want so far.

my 97 did not have vibes with a 3" lift, and my track bar, oddly stayed center.
you can run bigger tires by trimming your fenders, and relocating your flares slightly. i ran 34x10.50 on my last xj w/4.5" lift. kept the stock flares. i dont want to lose my flares either, but some trimming and/or bumpstopping is a must.
