Default manual locking hubs

Are they possible to get for the Dana 30 and if so are they a good investment?

very possible to get but they cost a lot last time i check. i think around 800 and up. id say if you really wanted them to just go ahead and go with waggy dana 44's and you will get lock out hubs and a much stronger axle

First off, why do you consider them? What are you trying to accomplish?

Different bolt pattern so now he'd need new 2 wheels.

And of course those won't match the rear... so what to do about a spare?

Wheel adapters out back to match the front? Sure...now you need 5 new wheels.

Maybe a new rear axle to match the front lug pattern?

Then you'll need to properly gear both axles.

Might as well add lockers while you're regearing.....

It just goes on and on and on....

Got luv this hobby.

Got luv this hobby.

That dialog sounds really familiar!

Just went thru all of this installing a 44. All in all, 3 grand later, I'm glad the 30 is gone.

not tryin to be a dick or anything, but i did say waggy dana 44's so plural so that means front and rear so everything would match up and doesnt have to worry about 2 different spares.

No problem.

Still need to address brackets, perches, gearing, etc., etc, etc.

Simply pointing out that swapping axles is not as simple as some folks think it is. There are a lot of things to consider before deciding on an axle swap before you pry open your coin purse.

oh yea its not all to easy. the rear is pretty easy to setup for swap as its less parts to mess with. but the front can be difficult

I'm not considering swapping axles til I can afford Dana 60s and make my XJ trail only. Is it a pain to make the 30 manual?

i dont think its a pain but whats the point because they cost so much heres a link http://www.4wheelparts.com/Drivetrai...&t_pn=ALY12194 seems like to much work for not much gain. honestly save the money for the 60's and upgrade those
