About 3 yrs ago they were not the best out there. They re-did the product, marketing and pricing and now I typically include them with gear sets when ordered in a complete package. Or I do gears on a jeep for a customer.
It helps the customer not dread changing the oil so much. I know its easy to do even with RTV. But when a customer knows all he needs is a few paper towels, oil, and a drain pan. I think it helps them change the oil at the 500 mile mark as needed. Saving them/ me/ and the manufacture the chance of getting a gear set returned due to failure of the oil that didnt lube the gears and worn them down excessively and now are no good.
You would be surprised how many dont want to change the oil, because of the mess and smell...
If you order a locker or gear set that doesnt have the free lube locker promo, its only a 20$ add ea and I think that makes it worth it.
At 25$ each and any shipping on top, I dont know...

Ya you could buy a lot of RTV for $50 but this isnt messy, no set-up time, no scrapping gaskets, and reusable. So for $22 I'll give it a try. If I get 5 uses out of it then it will be worth it to me.

The reason I'm considering them and another benefit i've thought of for using a lubelocker gasket is that you can change your diff fluid in frozen conditions easier. I no longer have use of a warm dry area for work in the winter so everything I do is in a frozen, snow covered parking lot. I was having a hard time figuring out whether I'd trust RTV to dry and seal properly in 15deg F. weather, and then I remembered these gaskets. I'm pretty sure they'll work just as well in the cold as they do warm, probably a lot better than RTV. Maybe have to be a little careful removing them the 2nd/3rd etc time around in case they're frozen on there so they don't rip, but I'm hoping this will be the only time I have to do it during the winter. Just tossing that out for anyone else who just got a new-to-them XJ during the winter and needs to change the diff fluids and take a peek.
