Would it not depend on the LSD type? A torsen type LSD that activates in clutchlike manner should still activate since it works based on the difference of rate of spin from one wheel to the other. Do those release completely like a locker when there's no power to it?

No power to the diff the auto locker or LSD unlocks. Auto lockers never truly release, hence the clicks. A LSD never truly lock-up. So basicaly the LSD acts more like a tight open diff than anything like a locker, ever.

I put a torsen type LSD in my car and it acts exactly the same driving around unless I enter a corner hard enough to break loose. Then it pulls me through instead of spinning the one wheel and understeering :P

My front Aussie Locker is locked at all times when driving straight in 2WD or 4WD. Infact, it rarely opens except in 4WD and in a very tight turn.

X 2 my Aussie is totally in hiding until I need it. Don't even notice it on the road...don't even hear it click on the road. Just hear the rear Aussie quietly clicking in the corners but, the true "4 wheel" traction is always there when I need it on the trail.

Since your Jeep is a DD/WW the Detroit True Tracs should work really well for you.
