Default Looking for a good performance exhaust that isn't too loud

I'm looking to get a little more performance out of my 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4.0.

I am interested to see what people are running. I would ideally like something that doesn't break the bank, gives me some performance, and has a nice tone to it but at the same time isn't ridiculously loud.

I use this car as a daily driver so I want something that isn't going to rupture my ear drums or **** my girlfriend off.

Also, if you know of a good place to get one for a good price feel free to share, I surely appreciate it!

is there even a 'performance' exhaust for the stock 4.0? I dont think you're gonna add any HP.
just get a muffler for sound. glass pack, flowmaster, or borla. whatever you can afford

Magnaflow, flows pretty well, an it is a mellow tone.

MY vote is for magnaflow/bullet performance mufflers. performance-curve.com has a maggy cat-back system for a good price.

Flowmaster super 40
Cheap, sounds great and comes with a lifetime warranty. Plus made in America so you'll help the economy lol

I was looking at this exhaust. And obviously I'd prefer it to be American made so that's a plus.

Is this a relatively quiet muffler? I don't mind a nice throaty sound but nothing ridiculous.

I was checking that out at performance-curve.com. Damn, that price is practically unbeatable!

Not too crazy on the noise level I take it?

I run a FlowMaster on my S10 Blazer. That's minus a Catalytic converter too. It's not loud at all. And I love the way the sound of the cam comes through as well.

You can get a Magnaflow 50 series (the smaller 40 is way louder) - quite cheap on eBay or Amazon.

Performance Curve sells a great 2.5" mandrel bent pipe.

A bit over $120 for both, instead of $500 they are asking for their catback kits...

I believe you mean FLOWMASTER 50/40 series. magnaflow is by body size/shape.

I run a turndown with a 14" 4x9 oval maggy and not too loud. Nice tone, no drone. So, with the full tailpipe would be quieter with a nice tone.

Have you personally used their 2.5" mandrel bent pipe? Does it require a lot of modification to get it to fit or is it pretty much a straight bolt on? I would assume it would require someone welding some exhaust hanger brackets to it and what not, correct?

Yes and yes. Welded at the cat, and from the muffler to the pipe. Also a weld for the hanger - cut and used to old stock one. It's in my build thread...
