Lookig for input on this home brew CAI pleae
I threw this together with parts in my garage. Exhaust pipe, drilled a hole added rubber grommet and fuel line to connect to sensor. And ran that under the tubing. I don't do big water crossing but do some mud and I would get one of those water proof covers for the filter if I like the setup. So not a snorkel, but a little CAI mixed with some water protection as it points toward the firewall. What do you guys think, pointless, awesome, take it off or it will work? Haha thanks

I know all about it, had in my last xj off the air box in to driver side cowl. This 01 has damn abs brake system in the way, so this was a quick mock up for highway ad some puddles.

I made one that looks pretty much the same exept I just removed my factory air filter housing and laid the cone filter of the "CAI" over there. Then built a small sheet metal wall to sheild it from the road spray etc

I just did the cowl intake on my 98 Cherokee this weekend. Hopefully it works out, she'll get tested out pretty good this year I think lol. Removing the air box made for a lot of extra space, and the abs pump is next when I swap to the Dana44!

Not fully water proof yet, has a very slight gap on the right side where it'd probably take in a bit of water if submerged to that point (unlikely I'll go that deep but you never know). Ran out of time to finish that part up, so I'll figure something out this week.

the only thing i would say is since its still pulling in the hot air from the engine compartment it's probably worse off than the factory intake, other than that it looks pretty good

The plastic cover that goes between the hood and windshield is held down by 8 screws and is sealed on the passneger side, the part towards the windshield tucks underneath the rubber trim/bottom of windshild, and the hood part seals up against the rubber seal behind the hood. With the cover back on, you'd never know the filter was in there (except when you start it and can hear it sucking air in when you're outside the vehicle lol).
