Default long arms for a 3" lift, and bumpstops

looking to run a LCG setup on my XJ.

so far i have a RC series II 3" lift with rear springs, IRO 3"-6" adj trackbar, 6" longer front brake lines, 4" longer rear brake line, rusty's steering box brace, and 32x11.5x15 tires on 15x8 4"bs wheels.

i am planning to run shackle relocation bracket's in the near future which will raise the rear about 1"

my question's are:

1. what long arm kit can i buy for my setup that wont break the bank?
2. what bumpstops do i need F&R? (i am still researching this subject)
3. is there anything else i may need for this setup? (besides 4" front coils to even out the lift)

i dont think you will gain any benefit of having LAs on 3" of lift. just wont make that much difference.

go to 4.5 to gain full benefit. i ran 35s on 4.5 and trimmed w/front and rear LAs on my zj and it was near perfect.

the more i learn, becoming less and less of a fan of LAs w/rear leafs. Just too unbalanced imo..

shackle relocation brackets are a great idea.. fixing that crappy shackle angle is priority.

FrankZ builds some good LAs. Even for a LCOG rig. And really reasonably priced, too.

If I don't build my own, I will probably buy his.

And we really don't like each other.

I plan on 4 linking the rear axle on my xj, but I've never felt that an XJ is "unbalanced" since it has rear leafs, quite the opposite really.

I like having rear leafs, makes me feel more stable in off camber situations. I prefer the XJ setup. my 2 favorite suspension mods where long arms and shackle relocation brackets.

I do question the real benefit of LA's and a 3" lift. but there isn't a big difference from 4" to 4.5"...

It comes down to more articulation, in actuality more down travel. The height of the vehicle only changes the center of gravity and somewhat limits up travel. I almost want to go back down to 3.5", LA and 35's.

Lol, TheJerm is right on target. Spring height does not change the amount of articulation. 3" or 8.5" on short arms, the control arms still have the same range of motion. With taller lift's they're just held further down that range. Long arms on 3" will travel just as much as the same long arms on 8.5"
