Default To long arm or not to long arm?

I bought a nearly complete 4.5 inch rc lift kit yesterday for dirt cheap all its missing is control arms and track bar I believe but i think i have an adjustable track bar the the po put on it when he lifted it. So my question is rather than but control arms should i just buy a long arm kit for 200 bucks more? Do they come with both lower and upper control arms? I don't know much about long arm kits so any advice would be nice.

Ps: Is this kit any good? http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merch...IROR&Product_C ode=IR-XLAU&Category_Code=XLK

Id go long arms! If I could re buy my lift I would of just saved up a little more and done the IRO long arm lift. But long arms will ride smoother and flex more

Ps : do u have a sye for that drive shaft?

First...Welcome!

Second...
Use the SEARCH function. There have been a lot of threads on this subject, some very recently. You'll find a lot of great info on this subject and a wide variety of of opinions on various kits as well.

Good luck with your project!!

And I would love Clayton or something like that but I'm a student and work for nearly minimum wage so they are still out of my reach

I just put a Rough Country LA on my friends truck. Its a nice kit, comes with everything, directions were super easy to understand. For some reason people like to bad mouth RC every now and then, myself or friends that run their stuff have never had a problem.

As stated in the ad, it's an upgrade kit. You must have an existing 4" minimum lift.

The front shocks you have won't be suitable....and they aren't very good to begin with.

You did not come off as rude if anything I did , Imo anything with 4+ in of lift should have long arms. Kudo's to you for trying to learn most people here don't they buy RC claim it's the best thing on earth then 6 months later they complain when it starts to fail an buy a better kit an join the RC hatred bandwagon ! All I can say is start researching when you think you know enough search more ! I've been researching for months for a longarm for my XJ an I've been in this hobby for a decade my current XJ is my 5th Jeep and 2nd XJ. I've spent a ton of time around the east coast at Neuroc, urock, and RCroc comps Judging and wheeling and spotting granted it has been about 3-4 years since I have been that serious into the sport, But I still research products for months before I bite the bullet . When on the trail and in the hobby as long as I have been you can tell who has put serious time and thought into their modifications by how they perform an others will make you scratch your head wondering what in the hell were they thinking.

Cherokee Fourm does has some good info and a few guys who are very knowledgeable but there are way too many younger Jeepers who think RC is the best stuff since sliced bread, I suggest you look on NAXJA.org an research there also ! Researching your modifications and coming up with a build plan an finding out exactly what you want to do with your rig will save you thousands and headaches in the long run. I've ran everything from RC,Rustys,Skyjacker,RE, kits, Deaver springs and tons of shocks

Trust me if i had to buy a lift at full price it wouldn't have been rc but a deal is a deal and 80 bucks seemed right. And your right i do need to research more about it (i did a month of reading before i swapped in my 8.25) Right now im just getting an idea of what i need so i can start saving now so when i do bite the bullet my bank account doesnt bite the bullet as well.
