Default locker clicking on right turns

I just installed my rear aussie locker and i noticed it clicks and bang alot more and louder when i make right turns than left turns. I realize it should have some characteristics like this but idk why it does it more when i turn right. is it just normal? I was just wondering if i should check something out. Thanks for the help!!!

i also have an aussie, mine does it too, it's totally normal, it is because of the different axle shaft lengths, it does it while turning on the trail as well.....I LOVE MY AUSSIE

remember it's a luchbox, so it IS going to make noise. you have to kinda train yourself to not worry when you hear it. but once you get that down, it is awesome. definatelyone of my top recommended upgrades

Eh I gotta say, sounds like somethings wrong if it would click/bang more going one direction than the other. I've got an aussie in my rear axle and it makes approximately equal noise turning either directions. Understandably the front axle is a bit different, but really, sounds like somethings not right.

I thought they were different, so I stood them side by side & they look the exact same length.I need to get a tape measure & double check.

They are the same length if you have 8.25s. I don't remember if Dana 35s are equal but I'm sure google will tell us. But either way I don't think axle length is what causes a difference in noise. What happens in the average open diff with 100,000 miles or so on it is you get some wear on both the thrust washers and the carrier. But because right hand turns are tighter then left hand turns, here in America, a lot of times the driver side thrust washer/carrier can wear a little more then the passenger side. This causes the cam gears to not quite be centered on the pinion cross pin. This leads to the driver side cam gear contacting the cross pin in a way the passenger doesn't. Now, as far as whether the noise it makes is "bad" or "normal" it's really hard to arbitrarily say without hearing it myself. But the key is the gap specs and whether or not it affects performance. If they lock and unlock when they are supposed to and are within specs then these variances are not an issue, in my opinion, because the Aussie tolerances are designed for such.

Something I forgot to mention: tire pressure and wear are huge factors in lunchbox noise on the streets. If one tire is just a little different, it will matter for that. Also, Aussies should only be audible at very low speeds. I found that my Aussies tend to like thick gear oil (85-140).

the noise isnt very abnormal for a lunchbox (i looked up youtude videos on how they sound) but i just didnt know why it was louder and more frequent with right hand turns than left. My tires are the same air pressure but but drivers side rear is more woren than the others. Its because i put a new steering kit on and drove it for a while w/o an alignment so 1 tire wore a little more so when i rotated the tires it ended up in the rear. It is not woren alot more at all, they are basically new tires. That might be a reason though. But if it is normal and working correctly, i am more than happy
