Default locker on a 98 cherokee classic

I would like to know about those $30 lockers on ebay. I was thinking about buying one and I wanted to hear from somebody with some first hand experience.

$30? or $300? if its one of the lunchbox style lockers... aussie, lock-right, spartan and the like, then alot of people use them and they work well. only complaint ive heard is they can be noisy but they are awesome offroad.

If it's the $300 ones like Aussie, I'd also like to hear how they work and if people recommend them or advise otherwise. Install front and rear? etc. etc.

I've got an Aussie in my Dana 30, to be honest it's really not that noisy, but I do have a flowmaster exhaust. So it kinda just blends in. It works amazing though. I got one after watching my buddy in his xj outdo me on just about everything!

Are they constantly locked? Only when you switch to 4wd? Bad in the snow? etc. etc. Bad idea to have front and rear? I think I read someone saying not to lock the rear

they are locked whenever youre touching the gas. i wouldnt want to drive with a locker in the snow. you can lock front or rear. someone might have said it was a bad idea to lock a rear dana 35, especially if you had bigger tires. i would lock the front first.

Thanks guys for some input so far. It's a DD that will most definitely see snow, on 33s, and I think I have the 8.25 rear. I don't want anything dangerous, but I don't wanna think twice about traction on the trails. Something like the Aussie seems like a good solution compared to buying a selectable. I'll have to keep reading and thinking and researching and seeing what people think... Feel free to continue contributing here.

PowerTrax NoSlip is:
Virtually invisible on the street, in both manners and sound.
A stellar performer off-road.

Eaton E-locker Requires 12vdc to go from fully open to fully (mechanically) locked. Push a button and your locked, push again and your unlocked.

No compressor, airlines, or o-rings to worry about.

Yes but twice as much as a lunchbox. Also have to set up gears.

Yes, you are correct.

It may not be worth it for you, but for others it is.

Anotheer reason to run a selectable locker up front.
