Default Lite switching ?

I put led floods in the exterior of my hatch for added reverse lite and work lights . My question is would it be safe to tap into the rear dome light for power . My thinking is it's a switched power source , ie turning the headlight switch to turn on rear dome lite .

What's the power draw of the lights and fuse on the circuit?

I feel your pain bro I'm not much better which is why I gave a safe answer. Was hoping others would chime in.
Seeing as these aren't known for robust wiring , plus having interior light on while trying to back up might be a problem. I would suggest a separate circuit and switch, just to be safe , IMHO.

BTW, it's sad that you had to get Politically Correct lenses.

The amp draw of the lights is the important number. I put a single 18w LED flood on my rear bumper as a backup light, and was told it would be acceptable to power it from one of the stock backup lights' wiring, which I did. Would I run two of them like that? Not from a single power source such as the dome light. If you're really itching to use the dome light switch for your LEDs, the best way to do it is power a relay from your dome light, but power the lights from the battery, fused, through the relay.

Watts / Volts = amps, 16w / 12v = 1.25 amps is PROBABLY ok to add on your dome circuit safely, if in doubt you could run a relay that kicks on via Dome light power, that kicks another power source to power the other lights.
