I currently have a 3-3.5" pro comp lift on my XJ and I'm planning to buy a 1-1.5" leveling spacers and shackles to make it 4-4.5". I called 4wheelparts and they told me anything over 3" for XJs I will need a SYE and a new Driveshaft but my BUDDY says they don't know ****...and I'm not sure if I need to buy SYE + driveshaft or not. Any suggestions?

Are you running a stock DS?

It depends what that lift nets you. Not all 4.5" lifts are 4.5". I'm running a "4.5" lift with a 1" drop on the crossmember. Mine runs smooth but I've never inspected the yoke engagement. I still plan to upgrade mine soon but I have other projects in the way.
Most 97-01 XJ's with 4.5" lifts need at least a 1" TC drop. Some can use 6* shims and be okay, others don't need anything. Personally, I'd look into IRO's Hack-n-Tap SYE. $220 gives you everything you need (including the die and tap kit and ds) and you won't have to worry about a tc drop or shims.

I heard that HacknTap is not recommended if you go off road a lot?

i put a 4.5 inch rubicon lift on my 2000 and had to put an SYE and DS, before i had those i had some pretty bad vibrations when i would get around 35 to 45 MPH, so yeah it all depends on your jeep.

hac n tap is like adda leafs ..they work but in my opinion its half ***,if its just a mall crawler go for it....but for the same price you can do it the right way an its stronger....180 for sye from tht site an jy driveshaft 30 to 50.The sye wuz easy to install...a 4 out of 10 on how hard the install was
