Lifted 2dr loses 4x4
So I recently purchased the 2dr that some of you have seen on my introduction. When I bought it, I didn't think to test the four wheel drive for some dumb reason
The last owner said it worked, and the underbody was covered in mud so I took his word. I decided to take it on a little test drive to a local spot that has a decent amount of mud. To my distress it would not go into four wheel drive. The lever glides into 4h with no resistance at all. After stopping and shifting into neutral without touching the gas I moved the lever into 4L, put it into first gear and tried to take off. It went nowhere, it seems as if the 4wheel drive is in neutral. Pushing the lever back into 2wheel drive I do get resistance. Would the lift kit have misaligned something in the shift?
I can post a video tomorrow if my explanation is not thorough enough.

how high is the lift? My friend had the same problem in his lifted wrangler....his didn't go into "neutral" though, it just slipped back into 2WD. The tech said it was because his lift made it so the 4wd couldn't get completely locked. Take it for what it's worth.

I dunno man, how big is that lift? shouldn't have caused anything in the tcase to misalign...I've got 8" of lift and nothing in my t-case is giving me any problems...hope that helps a lil
I had a similar issue with mine when I first bought it. I have heard of people having this issue with a t-case drop. The issue isn't the lift in most cases but the t-case drop. The drop throws the levers that connect the shifter to the t-case out of wack. More than likely the shifter lever bushing has been pulled out. Its the green bushing.

Also,
The lift is a 4inch roughcountry lift, it sets on 33's.

Could this be the reason whrn i let off the gas i hear a grinding noise. Ive dropped the tcase not sure about the linkage though. It soubds like the driveshaft making the grinding noise
I apologize for the late update but some family things came up.
The Green bushing is gone and the entire thing moves with alot of play
I would take some pictures but my laptop doesn't make good pictures in low light.
