go get an alignment?

if you already have gotten an alignment then just let it be, my steering wheel is off a bit to the right but i really dont want to mess with it because my alignment is perfect right now.

when you get the alignment make sure they know to straighten out your wheel.

if the shop doesnt suck they will make sure the wheel is straight.

when lifting and using the stock trackbar the axle along with drag link gets moved to the drivers side.

steering wheel alignment:
what i do is just drive and mark where the steering wheel is pointing when the jeep is driving straight. and park with the steering wheel in that spot and the key in run mode and adjust the drag link until the wheel is straight.

toe adjustment:
as far as toe in goes you can simply use a tape measure, i go from the inside edge of tire to inside edge. get the distance beween the front of the tires equal to the rear of the tires and you're good.

that method saved me $75 at least a half dozen times.

you could also do the alignment yourself if you feel up to it. its actually pretty easy, heres a good writeup

you should align it before you install the steering stabilizer so you dont put unnecessairy strain on the stabilizer itself.

unneccesary strain? its a steering stablizer, it feels no pain.

it just acts as a shock to hide imperfections in the steering.

i dont even run one.

ahh but its just that, a shock and it does wear out. so why put it under a lot of stress because of the lack of alignment?

just my thinking.

and KTM is right the stabilizer just dampens the imperfections, a perfect setup doesnt require a stabilizer.

so the shock moves .02" more to one side than usual, trust me, it wont make a difference.

x2. i do this every 6 months on my rig. been doing it for years on my tj prior to getting this xj. 25 minutes tops, $60-$80 saved I recommend using a paint can and drawing a line on both tires than using the sidewall/tread blocks are reference points. It's more accurate.
