Default What do you do with the rear bumper?

I wanted to get a set for my 97 xj sport and was wondering if I could keep my rear bumper or if I have to remove it and is there any fabricating or modifying involved?

If I remember correctly the lip on the bottom of the body needs to be trimmed so the sliders can sit flat.

You remembered correct, I had to trim mine. I just have a problem with my second leaf on both packs hitting the slider. Did you have that problem?

I don't remember having that problem. Are your leafs fanning out?

Fanning leafs are a sign of loose u bolts. They could need to be tightened or they might be over stretched. If over stretched you won't ever be able to torque them properly.

well went out this morning and did the passenger side. they weren't tight at all. Hammered the leaves back in place and torqued the U-bolts to 62ft/lbs. Dropped it and jumped up and down on the bumper and the second leaf shift over again. Its not touching right now, but i have a feeling once i take it for a spin its going to touch again.. :/

probably a year old. i dropped the axle a few months ago to put in new leaf spring bushings when i did the sliders, and they were never really torqued down to begin with. Also if i feel the leaves down where the center pin is they're shifted laterally. Could the center pin have any place in this problem to?
