Keyless Ignition?
Has anyone ever rigged a keyless ignition system? I figure you could hook it up to a toggle and momentary switch.

Also, you'd have to disable the steering lock......

Lots of people have discussed this in several threads.
You can do it. But depending on your you'll still need a key to unlock the steering wheel. Or find a way around the steering lock.
There is other stuff involved. Search and you'll find it. Maybe look for push button start.

steering lock is bypassed by removing the lock "pin".
Tear the steering column down till you are able to remove the ignition. Follow the lock actuator to a rectangular block of metal. Cut that sucker off and your good to go. Idiot tried to take my ride and broke the lock on mine. Had to tear it down to get it out. Also the lock was preventing the key from turning to the reverse "accessory" position.
As far as the size of switch I don't think that there is a lot of current passing through it. Starter is actuated through a relay. But I haven't put an ammeter on the circuit so correct me if I am wrong.

FWIW even wiring in a kill switch may not be enough.
If someone wants your rig enough, they'll get it. But with the steering lock at least the wheels wont freely turn.

I think I'm going to use this wiring diagram. As far as the wheel lock goes I will probably rip it out. I usually leave it unlocked with the windows down when it's hot. I have the mind set that if someone wants the truck or something in it, they will get it. At least this way I wont have a broken window. I want to keep the tumbler in the collumn to act as a dummy.
