You dont need to Regear or axel swap. And u wond need a bigger rim either they can mount a 33x12.5 on a stick jeep rim. THe only thing you will have to do if u want to do bigger tires is a little trimming and manybe looking into bigger bump-stops so that the tires dont tear the fender to hell. But in my advise i would say GO BIG OR GO HOME. u will love 33's on there

According to your profile you are running a manual transmission. I also run a manual and hated the 3.07 gears running 29 inch tall tires. Going from the stock tire size to 31s is increase in torque of about 10.5 percent, going from stock to 33s is about 18 percent increase. So it will pretty much suck for power and mileage on the road, on a trail it will be a pita. I would say buy the two 31s and save up to get the tires, wheels, axles and gears you need to do the 33s. That is just my opinion, but you will hate 33s on 3.07s.
33's on 3.07's blow you won't even know what fourth gear is on the highway, I did an axle swap on mine to 3.55's and it's still a dog try to find a four cylinder with a set of 4.10's and just swap the axles out

Big difference between 3.07s and 3.73s. Plus, your V8 with an auto will make up for pos gears more than a 4.0 liter and a manual transmission, so maybe what your GC does on 3.73s doesn't relate that well to what his Cherokee does on 3.07s.
it is what it is eventaully going to get 4.56s gears down the road

I have been running a D35 open with 33's for a while now. It is only scary if you are if you are locked stock shafts beating the hell out of it.
running 15x7 ranger rims with 33x12.50 bias swampers and have had 285/75R16s on 16x7 for a couple of years now.
some photos for the OP

I run 44's locked up on my Honda accord, but those are the street tires... I run 53's when I'm offroad.
You honestly wanna say a Dana 35 locked up is holding up to 38.5" tires? It maybe has been parked in his garage for years with that setup but definitly not wheeled.

33's wont be a dog. my buddies 2000 on 33s is faster and has more power than his brothers stock 89. just my 2 cents but you will certainly not be underpowered by any means.

he's just asking about tires.. no need to pick at each other here.
