I have stock JK rubicon shocks on mine, they work great at 3" the rears should work up to 5" or 6" if you are willing to relocate the rear shock mounts (gains 1"-2") and run bar bin eliminators (gains 1")

the fronts are good to about 3-4" maybe 5" if you run bar pin elimintors

however if they are from a lifted JK you can just look up the lengths, both opened and collapse, then compare that to a lifted XJ shock...

my guess is a lifted JK shock is good for 4-6"

So i finally got the shocks from the JK my friend also thru in the oem shocks since he no longer had a need for them. The first picture is the front shocks jk BDS 2in lift, jk oem, xj monroe stock. second same order. third picture the bds next to an unknown brand (came with the lift kit) they are for a 4.5in lift. and on the front i didn't bother taking them and measuring i just held the shock to the one already installed and i could easily tell it was too short. Plus on the front i'm a rough country 8in lift shock was free and new. the only thing you have to do on the rear jk shock is take out the crush sleeve because it won't go all the way in to bolt it up. and the bds rear shocks only have a few thousands miles compared to the ones already in there.

BDS---Monroe---OEMJK---unknown shock
front open
22 3/4---22---22 1/2---na

rear open
26----20----22 1/2---- 25
closed
15 3/4----na----na----15
