on '97 and up its just a matter of popping the old vent out and the new piece in, older cherokees would involve exstensive modification in the form of a dash swap.

to the right hand drive XJ, very clean radio mount in the OHC i think that may be the route i take with mounting my VHF and hopefully be able to fold it up without mic so its not as visible for looky loos as its a fair bit more pricey than a CB [which is already mounted by my left knee under the dash]
as for the **** fit over the mag mount/tire mount who cares, my mag mount is mounted on the ledge where the factory tire mount was[i know its a potential torpedo but if i wreck hard enough to get it loose i figure ive got bigger issues than a light], FYI those who say its such a hazard clearly havent used them cause mine ya damn near need a pry bar to get the light out, now im not saying there isnt potential for it to go flying but im more worried bout my radio sliding out or my rear veiw as ive been nailed by those numerous times, then theres my tire on the roof[bolted to a safari rack thats not going anywhere because of some half inch bolts and steel plate through the roof] its a 32 and yes it does add noticeable top weight which is why its going onto a rear bumper mount when i get around too it.
as for other upgrades look for fitchVA on that other jeep......forum, the guy has some amazing interior stuff such as relay boxes, switch panels, air compressor mounted where the cubby is and many more if you can still get his book id suggest picking it up as its full of a ton of info.
and as far as fishing rod holders go ive seen every thing from some wood strips wedged into the upper trim and rods stuffed in there, or same idea but with a piece of wood with holes that you slide the rods in, and then as much as fancy aluminum units, sorry no pics but google images usually pulls up some.
ive got some stuff done interior wise but my jeep is a storage locker for various parts as im in the middle of my 5spd swap at the moment so ya dont see much

Its a 242, and the lever is not aligned (4x4 conversion). It's actually in 2wd lol. The dodge logo isn't that bad, and the seats are soo comfortable. Hooked up the power to the seats, work like a charm

FEDX95 were those seat just a bolt in[like the 97-? grand seats] or did they require a little work? My 89 power seats are comfy but could be better and the motors in them barely work anymore but ive yet to check how the motor is attached and how hard a replacement would be so depending on the difficulty seat upgrade may be easier

An idea for guys who mount stuff in the back, either make sure its locked down or maybe look into a mesh netting of sorts to put behind the rear seat to block flying objects incase of an accident

Nope, but it might lodge itself under your pedals. Better hope the first impact stops your ride, or you might find that Maglite keeping you from pressing the brake pedal.

Well, I wouldn't tell someone to secure it improperly
Ok, I'm glad you have your tire up there. What's not to say that you get in an accident and the tire flies off the roof and hits someone else? How safe is that? I don't want my tire up there for a few reasons. 1. the one I just stated. 2. I don't like the way it looks. 3. It makes the Jeep top heavy and makes tipping easier to achieve during off camber situations 4. I have no problem with cargo space. I don't carry lots of junk in my jeep needing immense cargo space. 5. I don't want the tire in the elements not being used and having the rim sit up there and rust and have it drip rust all over my roof.
Like I said, it's for those who don't have the $$ for a rack or tire bumper. And for those guys who possibly can't lift a big a$$ heavy tire on and off the roof.
