Interior LED's yeah it's been done but you need to do this
Ok yeah I know this has been done many times before but if you haven't done it yet I highly recommend doing so. So here's the deal. I was reading other threads on here about the upgrade and thought what the hell, I have an extensive electrical back ground and this upgrade made perfect sense. So I got on FleaBay and searched for a good deal on some LED's. I ended up with 10, nine LED panels for 12 bucks. Yeah they took about 3 weeks to get from China but shipping was free. Anyways I took two panels and mounted them in each dome light (89' renix) one each for the map lights and one each for the under dash on each side. I can now see everything in the inside of my XJ at night! It's a major improvement and I got rid of those crappy a$$ tube lights that were melting my dome lights.
Next up is to figure out the quantity needed for my cluster and the HVAC controls and then on to my tail lamps and front markers.
Pic's to come in the AM. I was doing this as my wife and son relaxed after being in a bad car wreck on Thursday afternoon that totaled out our 07' Dodge Caliber. A 16 yr. old kid ran a stop sign at 45 mph and decided to use our car as a braking system. Little bastard is lucky he didn't kill anyone.
Have a good night guys and gals....

What I did was cut out just enough of the dome light lens so that the 9 LED panels would fit through nice and flush. Wired them to a plug and then soldered the other end to the old bulb tabs. I did the same for both dome lights. The under dash ones were pretty easy I hot glued the LED panels to the old light brackets and wired them in.

Leds are awesome, and use very little power, you may or may not believe this but one standard 1156 bulb uses more power than all my 7 inteior led lights combined, very awesome. My cluster lights were a 194 bulb, i think it took about 10 bulbs to do it. try to go orange for you turn signal and red for your brakes, those bright white leds makes your tail lights pink haha, and if you go for brake lights or turn signals you have to have a special type led, i also swaped my reverse lights, the light above my license plate, the one in my glove box, and the brake light in my back window, you did a great job,

If you really want to go midnight sun this is a 30 LED PCB board pre-wired with a 44mm fuse type festoon.
It should be plug and play for the socket and require maybe a bit of massaging to get the PCB up in there.
You could also theoretically solder this into the front dome location since it's got wacky little tabs for a rigid hoop style.

I'm very happy with my SuperBrightLED 30 PCB-style interior conversion.
They are really stinkin bright. The footwells are 9-bulb PCB. See link in my sig for more info.
