Default Intake manifold Swap

Will an intake manifold off of an 02 wrangler work on a 98 Cherokee? Both 4.0s. It's the curved style instead of the straight manifolds. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Some of the fittings are missing on the wrangler manifold I believe. Also if the throttle body is included the IAC valve has a different fitting and will need to be changed out.

I am not saying it will or won't work unfortunately, but I am saying they are not a direct swap.

The throttle body wasn't included. I noticed the wrangler one had one less fitting on it. But other than that they looked identical. So would an XJ TB fit directly on to it? Cuz if its gonna be a lot of trouble them ill just sell it and stick with the stock one

The throttle body should bolt right on. And the manifold should bolt right up.

What I am not 100percent certain is if the steering pump mount is exact, and the exhaust manifold has the same room underneath. Not saying it doesn't. Just not 100percent certain.

I think the steering pump mount is/should be the same. I plan on doing an aftermarket header on it as well so I planned on some minor trimming for fit

Yes, you can make it fit. You just might have to fab a spacer or bracket for certain accessories. I.E. I had to modify a few 4.0 brackets to run the accessories on my IH 258 block.

everything will bolt up fine, just reuse your old sensors and TB.

Sounds good. Noticed ill have to lengthen one sensors cord and I read about lengthening a vacuum hose? May have to make a bracket for the fuel line. My XJ has a 2 bolt bracket and there's only one hole for the bracket on my new one

See, not that hard. Its always minor stuff. After all youre going from a 4.0 to a 4.0 unlike going from a 4.0 to say a V6 or such. That makes things simpler.

Does anybody know what size wire I would need for lengthening the sensor wire?

Wire thickness isnt much of a concern. Just as long as its good quality insulated wire as its carrying less than 5v. Why do you need to extend it? I thought there were enough ports closer for it to reach.

The sensor on my 98 is on the firewall side of the TB and on the newer style it's on the radiator side of the TB so I gotta extend it. I read where I may have to extend vacuum hoses as well.

In photo above you can see the sensor on the far right of intake manifold

And it will need to go on the far left of newer style intake

In this pic you can see that in gonna have to cap maybe one line maybe. Not enough (ports) on newer intake

Move the sensor to the right. (towards the firewall) Switch it with the big vacuum line fitting that is there. Now would also be a good time to clean up the vacuum mess that the 4.0 comes with. There are plenty of ports on the newer intake. Also note that on the side of the intake there is a small vacuum fitting, a big one (used for the brake booster) and another small one. The small one closest to the firewall looks like it is broken, pushed in or something?

Ya it's slightly pushed in. I figured I could just pull it out to where it needs to be and it be ok? I never thought oh moving the sensor over. Kinda assumed it was just suppose to be where Jeep put it lol
