Ok cuz I'm tired of having this axle in the back of my jeep. I think I will drop it at the shop Saturday and come in on my day off on next Monday and clean it all up and paint it and get it ready to swap it in

I was thinking about that if I do that then I could have a low gear in 2wd right ? Or would all the power go out the front output shaft ?

Yes take the driveshaft out. It's more safer, and it helps with fuel economy so slight.
