agreed...send it back / cancel your order
The PCM for our engine does not have user adjustable settings to justify the use of a programmer or chips. You won't notice any difference whatsoever.

I've heard both sides of the PCM programmer argument. I'm sure that a programmer will be able make a couple of small changes in how your XJ runs. Most cars are not meant to have user adjustable settings because they can/will be in violation of U.S. emission laws. I'd say give a shot, record the gas mileage that your GF is getting with her Jeep without the programmer. Then use the programmer in her Jeep, drive normally, and record the gas mileage. If there is an increase in gas mileage, then it actually works. If it stayed the same, then you should send it back to wherever you ordered it from. Think of it as a trial/science experiment
.
I am very interested in what results you end up getting as I am looking to buy a hypertech programmer as well.
One more note: if there is no change in fuel economy, you CAN do a couple of Gas mileage mods without using a programmer. You can buy or make an adjustable MAP sensor, Erase your PCM's memory and run it in "adaptive learning mode", and do simple things like replacing your 02 sensors.
Good luck man

gunna try a before and after... just intalled a throttle body spacer and solid motor mount to go with the bored throttle body intake and partial exhaust. fixin to get a downpipe from napa or carquest which come without precat or the smashed in spot after the flange..

1) TB spacers do nothing for port injected motors, Work for carb'ed or TB injected motors but not port injected motors. Does it whistle? lol
2) solid motor mount?
3) Dont remove pre-cat, will throw engine codes, probably run like poo and is illegal
4) that dent is there for a reason, clearance for front yoke. Which will most likely crack the exhaust header if it hits a few times.

well the tbspacer is now in and is 100% noticable power increase... an ya it does whistle
yes solid motor mounts. from ironman andy. what make a great difference power wise no longer allowing for power to be wasted into the mounts.
removal of the precat does NOT throw codes nor do i give a **** of the legalities of it.... aftermarkt dps do not have the pend or the cat. i could only imagne why... maybe something to do with performance hmmm..
clearence for ds isnt an issuse especially considering the fact that she doesnt wheel her jeep
