How does one tell if my axles are aftermarket high strength (like I was told when I bought it), or stockers? I have them out and am curious.

Thats great and all, but I'm looking for AXLE SHAFT ID not differentials, you know, the part inside the differential that transmits the power from the carrier to the wheels, has splines on one end and studs to mount wheels on the other? Got a handy dandy frickin chart for that?

I am not new here, been on here over 4 years, I'm just not a post *****. I have had over 15 Cherokees, do all my own work and do not deserve to be treated like a moron. It was a simple question that got a snotty response because to many people dont know how to use a search. I should leave? That kind of attitude is what keeps people from getting anywhere. This forum helps a lot of people with their Cherokees, if everyone with a question gets asked to leave then what? Remember...I'm not the one who chose to come right out of the gate being a DICK

You are right, everybody does seem to assume the question is stupid, because so many are now. I meant what I said when I said axle, it got misinterpreted by others. I suppose I could have added shaft, but when I asked about high strength I figured that would clear it up. My low post numbers come from having a life, I have four kids, a company to run, more vehicles than I can possibly keep maintained, and more hobbies than I can possibly do justice to.

the irony of this statement.
OP, if you can pull the shaft and look for any part #s or stamping, that might get you somewhere. there are also supposedly different scratch tests you can do to test if its chromoly. i know nothing about that though so you would have to do some research.

Correct Kris. I thought I was being funny and helpful at the same time, while providing some good info.
The term "axles" is not definitive, and definitely doesn't mean the same thing to everyone. .
Pardon the crap outta me.
