Default Hood latch

So i was thinking about changing the hood latch from 2 to 1. Is it possible? Has someone else already done it? Or maybe it's a dumb idea. Just thought I'd put it out there and see what happens...

My passenger side hood latch refuses to grab anymore, so I guess
my Jeep qualifies. lol Mechanic says it is the little spring inside that is broken.

Improvements on the hood latch would be a welcome discussion, though.
What exactly is it that you are considering doing?

I'm not even sure if it's possible. I was just asking if it's ever been done. I'm guessing you'd have to figure out how to attach a latch to the middle of the hood and cut out the middle of the upper radiator support for some type of catch.

If it was possible and practical, the engineers woulda left it that way after 1986.

There are way too many rods and springs and latches that have to work 100% of the time, hood pins are the way to go

Hmmmm. I've been around XJs since 1984.
I've never seen the double hood latch fail.
Parted out Cherokees for over15 years and have yet to sell one of those latch assemblies. I send them to the scrapper.
