Had a new hood release assembly installed about a month ago. Now my hood will not open. When I pull hood assembly, I listen to hood area where a metal plate is located n hear a clicking sound. I saw them lube metal plate area when hood release was installed then pull hood release a few times to lube the top of the cable. But no clue how get to it, since hood is shut. Mechanic guy I know said bodyshops has tools that can open da hood. Any ideas or clues?

Not sure if yours is the same as mine, but on my '99 I can pull the passengers side headlamp and get that corners spring released. Then I can pull up the hood enough on that corner to get a little hook in there and pull the main latch to pop the hood. Figure out what its doing/not doing and it should be a simple fix.

when my cable broke on my last xj . i reached up through the engine compartment in the front and felt around for the metal bar that ran along the front of the hood and pulled it to the drivers side. that was on my 90. just looked at my 95 and has same set up.

This is exactially how i did it on my '93 i had. Just reach up between the fan shroud and the aux fan and feel for the metal rod that runs along the bottom of the hood. Push it side to side and it should release. I had a issue where the release cable came out of the brackets so it didnt do anything

Ok Reaper2012, From what you say, go to driver's side, then reach up, till I find the cable, then pull left.....
It is pouring down here, so once it clears/dries, I will give it a try.
You (all of you on CF) are the best Bro...
