Default High pinion axle swap

Have a 2000 XJ with low pinion axles and I wanna find some high pinion axles and swap them, would it be a direct swap?

I done this last year. The axle is a direct swap just pull your axles with the hubs still attached and use them and your rotors from the 2001.I had to get another ds from a hp jeep also.just make sure the donor axle has matching gear ratio as the 01

That's for the dana 30.what rear axle do you have? If its dana 35 look for a chrysler 8.25 out of a I believe 96 up for 29 spline.if you have the 8.25 leave it.

Just did this too. Direct swap. If the new axle has the larger ujoints (post 94 I think) and is in good shape there is no need to swap axle shafts. Also I didnt have to get a new driveshaft, but that depends on your setup I guess.

Look for a set out of an automatic 97-99. That will get you a hp Dana 30 and a 29 spline 8.25 with 3.55 gears

Edit: if you could find those out of an automatic with a 4 cylinder they would have 4.10s, but those are very hard to come by and expensive if you do happen to find them.

Same here, did this swap, direct swap. I'd hit up a pick&pull & upgrade both axles if you don't have an 8.25/29spline. A P&P near me had 3 XJ's all with HP30's and 8.25/29 spline axles.

Great upgrade.

if you have an automatic trans and 4.0 its going to be 355 ratio. Look at the rear diff 8.25 on left and d35 on right

I've got an '00 XJ with D30 LP and want to do the HP swap. Got my eye on a HP from a '91 XJ. Besides the axles and hubs, should I also swap the knuckle, or is that the same between the '91 and '00?

I also just did the swap took me 2 years. Damn disc brakes on the 8.25

3.55 is a noticable improvement over 307
