But why chance it?
If anything, for a cheap fix, get a set of pencil beams cheap from HF. Hook em to a separate switch and use those as a high beam. I doubt there are laws stating specifically that they have to be the same lights on one switch...
Should cost less than $50 total.

If you do go with HID Buy some good Projectors and Retrofit them into some H4 housings otherwise your beam pattern will look like **** an so will the cutoff an you will blind oncoming drivers
