Default wheel and backspacing question

hey guys, been a member for over a year just dont ever post, more of a lurker but i have a question...im putting a 4.5 inch life on my wifes jeep for her and im going to run 33s question, is can i run a 10 inch wide wheel on the stock axles? if so what should the backspacing be? i like the look of a wider stance and i figure a 10 inch wheel will do that, and im fine with trimming the fenders and quarters, i know you have to even with a 8 inch wide wheel.....if anyone has pics of a 10 inch wheel please post them also....thanks in advanced.....Gary

Are you talking wheels or tires.

The wider stance is given more from the rims backspacing, thats how much the tire sticks out.

Most use an 8" rim, though.

Correct me if I'm not answering your question, but backspacing is how far the wheel sticks out. Most people on here do a 4.0 backspacing to 3.5 inches. 3.5 inches sticks out further than 4 inches. I believe, and correct me if i'm wrong, but stock wheels use 5 inches of backspacing. Width of the rim deals with how wide a tire is. As Gee said, most people use a 8 inch wide wheel. A 10 inch wide wheel is used on wider tires like 14.5.

15x8 for sure. and I wish I had gone with 3.75" back space. 4" is going to get in the way of some brake upgrades I want to do in the future
but a 15x10 wheel actually gives you a higher chance of blowing a bead as far as I know. no bueno

Depends on the tire width.

The wider the tire an the skinnier the rim typically the more difficult to blow a bead.

thanks guys, ill be running a 33-12.50-15 km2s and the jeep is the wifes and will mostly be a mall cruiser, at most 1 or 2 trail rides and a dune trip or 2 a year thats about it. i understand that the backspacing determines how far the wheel sticks out but the same size tire one a 15x8 would have a wider track on a 15x10 correct?
