Hey guys so ive been trying to figure out what axle to swap to since my d35 is going out. i found a 8.25 for 250 with 3:55 in it. Can i swap out my d35 for this and still run my front d30 or do i have to swap out the front to, and if so with what?? Im kinda a noob (1st jeep) to the jeep scene, just trying to do it right the first time.

Depends on what size tire you are going to run. If you are just going to stick with 31's like it says in your sig then you will not need any more than the 8.25.
But if you want to upgrade to 35's or higher you should probably get a stronger rear than the 8.25
FYI... the D30 should hold up ok up to 35" tires.

What year is the 8.25 coming from.
97+ has the 29 spline shafts. Almost the equivalent of a D44
-97 has the 27 spline shafts. You can swap the shafts and carrier from 97+ for stronger shafts.

Put in an 8.25 29 spline and call it good. Direct bolt-in with no parts to figure out. And you should be able to find that axle for $150 or so... $250 is too much.

There are 2 or 3, been a while since I lived down there but the one I went to was on the east side. 1/2 ton axles used to be $50 reguardless buy I think they are $65-75 now. You'll need to figure out what ratio you have now and match that.

If you have the AX15 manual you probably have 3.07 ring and pinion. I would look for a Dana 30 and a Chrysler 8.25 with a 3.55 and swap both. It will be easier and cheaper than having the Dana 30s ring and pinion set up.

going from d35 to c8.25 might require a driveshaft from 8.25.
and if you only need 3.55s, you should be able to pick up a front and rear for around $200-250. do a statewide junkyard search, don't just look up in one place.
i drove 1.5 hours to pick up a d30 with 4.10s for a 100 bucks. i wasn't there 5 minutes and the guys had already loaded the d30 in the back of my truck. look for deals, don't jump on the first one you see.

Also, one other thing. Incase you didn't get this already you'll need new u-bolts and spring plates. The tube diameter of the 8.25 is larger, and as mentioned before, probably will need the driveshaft too.
