Question Heat insulation under Bedliner?

Hey guys,

I've been doing a lot of reading on this, and I'm just not sure what is going to be the best solution for me. I want to do this RIGHT the first time, so taking all the time I need to be confident about this (and while I save up the cash!)

Anywho, I am going to be ripping up my carpet, doing some rust repairs and coating all the floors with Chassis Saver/POR15, and then laying down Monstaliner. My dilemma is that I don't want to have to worry about heat. So can anyone tell me, what is the BEST product to use between the Chassis Saver/POR15 and Monstaliner? I've been reading about Dynamat, and other stick-on padding of sorts, but that just doesn't sound like a good combination with roll-on bedliner. Is LizardSkin the way to go? Thanks for any suggestions here.

Another thought I had, is there any product that I can use on the exterior, underneath the Jeep, instead of applying it in layers all on the interior? Something that will hold up, and also stick to the rust encapsulating paint that I choose (I will be doing the whole underside in it as well). That seems to be an ideal option.

Some have said to add same heat shielding material also used above the muffler under the jeep. Put it above the cat and the trans hump

Do you think adding it in just those two locations would be sufficient enough? I think I'm more in favor of having the material on the underside of the Jeep instead of on the inside.

Yes that's what I mean, the heat is coming from the cat itself and the heat soak comes to trans hump because its high point in the underside.

U can install heat shield materials above the cat and the trans hump, under the jeep

Sounds good. Any recommendations on a specific material to use? I'll probably run around without the carpet before I do any of the bedliner to experiment before deciding.

Not sure where u can source the material from. I plan to go down this route as well. If I find out any more information, I ll let u know.

Some said that u can use bubble insulation from Lowe as a temporary heat shield on inside of jeep on the floor.

But I don't know about using the same material on outside under the jeep.

Thanks for the link! I did some research on that stuff and it seems like you have to rivet or screw it into the place you're attaching it...seems good, but I just hate the idea of having to drill more holes! I found a reseller here, and it seems pretty pricey too.

The first post there has a link on how to make a homebrew lizard skin really cheap. One experiment showing a 20 degree difference.

When I do my floor repair I'm gonna try it out. I'll be putting bedliner down first as someone recomended it as a barrier against moisture. I'll probably use some padding or stick on insulation over the main part of the floor pans too.

I'm gonna do the bottom in POR-15 or something similar and add some heat shields above the cat and downpipe.
