yea but fabric also absorbs sound so in that aspect bedliner would be better but I just want what will look the best/coolest.

I voted for headliner, but if you really want to be different.... Spray a sound deadener (rubberized undercoat, foam, etc) on the bare metal and reinstall the headliner. That would definitely soak up a lot of noise, but would be a waste of money.

I think the headliner is always a good way to go. You can use any fabric you prefer, if it is padded or foam lined its even better.

I am adding deadener to the roof anyways. If I bedliner the headliner it would only help.

I pulled the cloth off our headliner a while ago and it was just raw fiberglass. It was okay for a minute but not for long. Thanksgiving last year I got two cans of 3m adhesive spray glue and 10ft of gray headliner and the kids and I re lined the headliner in the garage while momma did the holiday meal. In the end the result was like factory and I had the pleasure of involving and teaching the kids how to do something. While the liner was out of the jeep, the hardest part is getting it out, I put about two regular size sheets of hushmat on the roof cut in 6" strips between the ribs. The hushmat definitely helped with noise levels and helped the 2-12" subs sound better. Make sure you coat both the liner and the roof form with spray glue and it helps to have two people help hold the ends while you smooth the liner on in the middle to avoid wrinkles as you only get ONE shot without making a huge mess. hope this helps. Total time for me was 3 hours.

I used a rubberized undercoating spray on mine. Works great, looks good and youll NEVER have to worry about it sagging again.
