It's an aftermarket PNP fuel management system, It's used a lot by Miata owners when they are running forced induction

Be careful looking up "MegaSquirt" if you're at work. Definitely not megasquirt.com.

Programable Fuel injector driver with data logging, and ability to adjust fuel map via PC while driving.

Quote: That's for obd2 vehicles tho right
Non OBD, OBD1... It controls all aspects of EFI system. I don't know what the rest of the OBD2 system would do (check engine light...)

Running one on my TPI small block Chevelle. Awsome throttle response compared to carb. Allows use of turbo or supercharger, tuning to run E85 if that is your thing.

Megasquirt is RARELY PNP (plug and play). Yes, there are specific units for the Mazdas built by DiyAutotune that are PNP for the Miatas. MegaSquirt is universal in its normal formats.

I have installed countless MegaSquirts over the years. If it is installed inside the vehicle, this is rarely an issue. Just use common sense and not install it somewhere where you have a leak dripping right on it.

A few simple steps can be taken to go a LONG way to making it highly water resistant though. If I have an install where I think elements will pose some problems, I start off by accessing the backside of the main DB37 plug. On some of the cheaper plugs, you can already see the pins. On the better ones, there is a black plastic cover. Get rid of this. Mix up some epoxy. Set the ECU up on its end and work that epoxy back into the plug filling it. This also strengthens the pins as a bonus. I have seen the pins work themselves inward on a few installs that get futzed with constantly.

Next, conformal coat the PCB. This is simply taking something like Krylon Clear spray paint and coating both sides of the pcb with it. Don't get any inside the plugs. If you cover something you need to solder on later, a hot soldering iron will melt right through the coating.

Finally when you put it together, fill the plug cavities with dielectric grease.

If you still really want a waterproof MegaSquirt, look at the MicroSquirt. It is fully waterproof and intended for installs in bikes and other smaller vehicles. It has a smaller footprint, and a higher cost.

So... I am here accidentally (and likely in the wrong forums anyways lol). I am trying to find information on the ignition system used in the CJ7 and stumbled into this thread. As for the Renix system, it seems it already has a crank position sensor? I could likely be of more help if anyone found me some detailed info on this ignition.

Well if you guys are interested let me know and I will post up some more info on what we are up to or a link or whatnot. In short, we installed MS on a CJ7 today for spark only control. I have to sort out the ignition system input, and should have it running tomorrow.
