Hey how’s it going. I know I’m a little late to the party but was wondering if you could help me out with the wiring of the steering wheel. It seems I have way to many wires for what you stated in the post. I have the cherokee cruis clock spring the grand Cherokee steering while with cruise and the singe phase air bag.

 

Confused by the post about adding the cruise buttons to a non-cruise vehicle. If it's missing the rest of the system, then adding the buttons won't do anything. I think what is tripping you up is that since you don't have an XJ with cruise, you're missing the wires and connections needed to swap the connectors to the XJ ones as I mentioned. There are also audio control wires for the WJ that are incompatible with the XJ clockspring and those can be ignored / cut out.

The horn is the one wire the comes from inside the airbag cover - where the horn switch is located. Hope this helps.

For non-2000 XJ's (which I posted the wiring diagram to) I would recommend looking up the Factory Service Manual for your year to make sure the colors match up. They're available free online.

 

Yeah, this is confusing. The WJ steering wheel doesn't fit over the original XJ clock spring correctly. The XJ clock spring would need to be modified for the WJ wheel to fit over it, and the WJ wheel would need to be modified to allow the clock spring wires to pass through.
